What it’s all about

The match is designed to test your ability to shoot rapidly and accurately with a full power handgun or rifle chambered in a pistol cartridge. The stage is set up with several shooting stations with obstacles and you will shoot about 30 rounds. The match is timed and the score is determined by taking the total points and dividing them by the time it takes you to complete the course. Unlike shooting at targets on a range, you have to think, move, reload, and shoot accurately. What you learn about how to handle your firearm is amazing.

There are a wide range of shooting skills represented, everyone is welcome.  There are experienced shooters that are more than happy to “show you the ropes”.  The atmosphere is safe, fun, and relaxed.

Safety is a big part of a Practical Shooting Match.  Never load your weapon until instructed by the range master, always keep your weapon pointed down range, never put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to shoot.

Web sites like this have more information on this type of competition.

The cost is minimal only $7.00 to shoot one round, and $10 to shoot twice.  There is no cost to come watch and get a feel for how this type of competition works.
